Sarah started her career in 1998 and has taught high school English at Johnston High School in Johnston, Iowa for 21 years.
Over the years, she became certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and today serves on its Board of Directors.
In 2010, Sarah went to the White House, where she was honored to be named the National Teacher of the Year.
In addition to being a proud mother of three, Sarah maintains a hybrid position at Johnston High School that allows her to work with teachers and schools across the country. She is an advocate for the profession, teachers and most importantly, the potential in every student.
