SPRINGFIELD, MA (April 1, 2019) – Wellfleet, a Berkshire Hathaway company specializing in accident and health insurance benefits, announced the promotion of executive Karen Matys to Chief Operating Officer.
As Chief Operating Officer, Matys is responsible for oversight of Wellfleet’s Claims, Customer Service, Support Services, Enrollment, Waiver, Appeals, and Insurance Administration departments.

Matys joined Wellfleet in 2009 to manage company operations. She has been in the healthcare industry for more than 25 years, with experience in both fully-insured and self-funded employer-sponsored plans; HRA & FSA; student accident and sickness plans; intercollegiate sports plans; special risk; and limited medical plans.
