SPRINGFIELD, MA, January 8, 2019 – Consolidated Health Plans (CHP), a Berkshire Hathaway company specializing in student health and employee benefits, announced today that it has rebranded and is now known as Wellfleet.
The new brand reflects the company’s transformation from a third-party administrator to an accident and health insurance company. Built to innovate, Wellfleet is deeply committed to its core student health business and has launched a new product line, known as Wellfleet Workplace.
“The investment into rebranding was critical to our growth and development,” said Drew DiGiorgio, Wellfleet President and CEO.
“The insurance industry is continuously changing, and we need to lead change in our markets. In rebranding to Wellfleet, we are emphasizing our move into workplace offerings, yet remaining committed to delivering customer-centric insurance solutions with quality care and service. I’m very proud of the business and where we are going,” DiGiorgio said.
Wellfleet Workplace offers voluntary benefits such as Accident, Critical Illness and Short-Term Disability.
“As part of the Berkshire Hathaway family and with more than 25 years in the accident and health insurance business, we are well-positioned to offer voluntary products,” said James Ocampo, Executive Vice-President, Workplace Benefits. “By providing innovative, easy-to-use, and engaging solutions for our customers, we can differentiate ourselves from our competition.”
Wellfleet unveiled its new name and logo at its 25th anniversary celebration event in November, which attracted more than 200 people, including employees, brokers, and clients. Wellfleet employs more than 160 people, many of whom are based at its corporate headquarters in Springfield, MA.
